Detail of Trigger Plate

The gun is a reproduction of a late 1700's to early 1800's Blunderbuss. The barrel is made from a Navy Arms company and is solid brass. The stock is from a blank of black walnut. The gun weighs about 10 pounds, and is 30 and 1/2 inches long. The gun barrel measures at about 90 caliber. It was formed with the enlarged mouth to allow for ease of loading. You could load stones, nails, shot, or just about anything .
Lewis and Clark carried a swivel mounted Blunderbuss on their trip across America. They would mount it on the bow of their boats and use its firepower to intimidate any foes.
All of the carving and engraving on this gun was done by Ed Morgan in 1983-1984. The gun itself was built by David Briant of Auburn, Washington in 1983.
This unique gun is for sale for $15,000
